Vertu for Bentley luxury smartphone: A $16,500 high-end device for luxury car lovers

Saturday, 25 October 2014 ที่ 16:47
After unveiling the high-end smartphone Aster, Vertu is now releasing another device from its luxurious lineup of smartphones.
The British manufacturer and retailer of luxury phones has now collaborated with Bentley for its latest take on mobile phones — the Vertu for Bentley.
The Vertu for Bentley provides luxury car owners with a mobile device that is well suited for their Bentley vehicle.
Aside from carrying the popular Bentley trademark and Vertu's traditional features, the smartphone reportedly comes with decent specs and is expected to show off reliable performance.
Taking after a high-end smartphone, the Vertu for Bentley is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, although its RAM has not yet been detailed. Nonetheless, the device has been speculated to come with 2 GB of RAM.

The company has specified that the Vertu for Bentley will come with a 64 GB internal storage and will have a 1080p display in its 4.7-inch screen. Interestingly, the screen is well protected by sapphire crystal glass while the body of the smartphone comes with calf leather.
Titanium back plates can be opened to show the signature of the manufacturer behind the device whereas a ceramic pillow can be found at the top of the phone, revealing a distinct feature similar to Bentley's vehicles. The car company's logo can also be seen in the metal wings in the front of the device near its mouthpiece.

The latest Android 4.4 version has been integrated into the smartphone and its 2275 mAh battery cell is expected to last up to a maximum of 380 hours when on standby. Vertu's collaborative effort with Dolby and Bang & Olufsen will also be experienced first-hand by users once they begin turning up the phone's tunes.
The Vertu for Bentley will be made available this November with an estimated price of $16,500.
While the device will reportedly be released as a limited edition smartphone with only 2,000 handsets to be manufactured, Vertu's partnership with Bentley will still generate four other luxury mobile phones in the future with details still to be announced.

Vertu for Bentley sports a frame made of calf leather using Bentley's classic signature. The phone was built from titanium and assembled by hand.

Vertu Introduces The $6,900 Aster

Wednesday, 8 October 2014 ที่ 17:11
This isn’t your typical smartphone:  Last week, English manufacturer Vertu announced the release of the Aster, its “mid-tier” luxury phone, starting at $6,900, although it hardly qualifies as just that.
The titanium Android device is the company’s follow-up to the Constellation and Signature Touch devices. But, unlike Vertu’s previous iterations, the Aster is slightly less expensive and, with its beveled sides and rich color palette, created with a female consumer in mind.

Each Vertu device is handmade in England by a single craftsman. They come with Dolby Digital Plus virtual surround sound (ensuring better sound quality than many televisions), six months’ complimentary access to global Wi-Fi and access to exclusive services, including Vertu Life and Vertu Certainty, an anti-theft, anti-virus system that includes data encryption and remote assistance.
But perhaps the most useful of the services, especially for the world traveler the company considers its main clientele, Vertu Classic Concierge cultivates experiences for the user depending on the city he or she is in. So, whether you’re vacationing in Paris or have a business trip in London, someone who lives in the city will be on the other end of the line to give you suggestions and tips.
But for $6,900, customers will receive plenty more, including a Hasselblad-certified 13mp rear camera with a sapphire crystal lens and 4.7” full HD display, also protected by the 5.1” sapphire crystal screen.  The handset also features a Snapdragon 801 Quad-core processor and LTE 4G capability.

The differences between the Signature Touch’s $10,800 base price and the Aster include the sound quality, services offered (the Aster comes with a shorter concierge subscription, just six months instead of 12, although users can renew it) and material. But with exterior options including calf, snake or ostrich skin (which increases the price to $9,700), it’s hard to be too disappointed.

Vertu Aster is the best luxury smartphone ever

Sunday, 5 October 2014 ที่ 19:59
We’ve told you that Vertu is preparing to launch another smartphone and voila – it’s here. Like any other Vertu device, the Aster isn’t made for the mass market but for the very few who can actually afford it.

The company’s latest piece of jewelry starts at £4,200 (about $6,785 or €5,350) depending on the materials being used. The phone’s body, handcrafted in England, is made out of exquisite materials such as “Grade 5 titanium alloy” as well as various types of leather (calf, karung and ostrich).
Specs wise, the Aster packs a 4.7-inch “virtually scratch-proof” sapphire crystal display with full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) resolution, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core chip clocked at 2.3GHz, 2GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, LTE, NFC, Dolby Digital Plus surround sound and a 2275 mAh battery. When it comes to the camera, users get a Hasselblad-certified 13MP rear camera with dual LED flash as well as a 2.1MP selfie shooter.

Alongside the device itself, Vertu phone buyers also get to benefit from access to exclusive services like Vertu Classic Concierge, Vertu Life, and Vertu Certainty.
The Aster measures 143.4 x 69 x 11.2 mm and has a weight of 193 grams. It is by far the best luxury smartphone we’ve seen to date. Alas, because of its steep price tag, owning it will be the privilege of the very few people on the planet. And if you happen to be in that group, please consider advertising on IntoMobile.

Vertu Aster is a luxury smartphone with 'mid-tier' price, top-tier specs

Thursday, 2 October 2014 ที่ 17:33
Since the launch of the Signature Touch, Vertu CEO Max Pogliani promised that "technology will be more a merging factor and not a differentiation point" for his phones. That's literally the case with the new mid-tier Aster launched today: This titanium Android device is identical to its flagship sibling device internally, just wrapped within a more contemporary and unisex design. We're looking at a 4.7-inch 1080p display, 5.1-inch 117 carat sapphire screen, 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 chipset, 13MP/2.1MP cameras (the former certified by Hasselblad), 64GB of internal storage, 2,275mAh battery, front stereo speakers, NFC, Qi wireless charging and great LTE compatibility (though no love for China, for some reason). With the specs out of the way, let's look at why this swanky phone starts from $6,900 or £4,200.

While the Aster is technically the successor of the Constellation, the former avoided the path of screen enlargement (from the Ti's 3.7-inch screen to the Constellation's 4.3-inch) while managing to bring back the iconic V-pillow. By keeping the same 4.7-inch screen size on both the Signature Touch and the Aster, Vertu could risk losing appeal to a wider audience, especially in China where phablets are the norm. But Pogliani opted for a more sensible strategy.

"Vertu is not here to follow general mass market mobile trends; our technology is leading edge but it doesn't have to be bleeding edge. The same goes for the physical design of Vertu products. The nature of our customers and of our products mean that we have to develop what is right for them, not follow generic broader industry design themes that may be more fleeting than those of the luxury market.
"Many of our customers desire and appreciate compact size Vertu products that comfortably fit the inside the pocket of a well-tailored suit or in an expensive clutch bag."
The CEO added that this also has nothing to do with the cost of sapphire, and he even said it's possible that his company might offer larger screen sizes in the future.
Much like the other Vertu handsets, the Aster is offered with a range of skins and colors. The base price gets you calf leather in black, pink or blue, while £5,600/$9,100 gets you shiny snake skin in black or orange (the latter is this author's favorite), and you can max out at £5,900/$9,700 -- a "little" below the Signature Touch's £6,750/$10,300 base price -- for ostrich skin in brown or purple. This is pretty much why the Aster comes in at 11.2mm thick, which is just a tad more than the Signature Touch's.
